Oh, how I’ve waited for this.
After being the talk of the Sundance film festival, the first trailer for Dear White People is finally out.
The satire film chronicles the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular ‘African American’ themed party thrown by white students. Directed by Justin Simien, it stars Everybody Hates Chris‘ Tyler James Williams, Veronica Mars’ Tessa Thompson, Kyle Gallner and Dennis Haysbert.
At Sundance, Simien won the Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent. With this being his first feature film, we’re definitely very excited to see where this story will go. An examination of race, social status and college culture, we’re sure this film will be both hilarious and educational.
Dear White People releases in theatres October 17.
